Most teachers and supporters show up right when you are looking for a sign or a way forwards. Meg Berryman is a wise woman in her early 40’s who came forwards to me right when I needed some support.
She lives far away from me and we have never seen each other in the flesh, which feels wild to me. How can I have such a special connection to someone when I haven’t even met her?! Well, it turns out you can and I have. Meg enlightens me in so many ways and she is who really helped me turn the corner when it came to my confidence, trusting myself and the wisdom of my body.
Here’s a very special piece of writing from her from her Substack. I loved it, have shared it widely with friends, and wanted to have it here on my website as a constant reminder of how far I have come.

When I realised that
This body
This overly sensitive
Awkwardly proportioned body
was not betraying me …
But instead was showing me
All the places I – as a product of my culture –
Was betraying her
Gaslighting her
Manipulating and coercing her
To be more productive
Less emotional
More robotic
Less fluid and seasonal …
That is when I realised that
She was not pushing me away
But rather calling me home.
That she was not the cause of my suffering
But the antidote to it.
I realise now that in disconnecting from her
I may have created some sort of temporary respite
From the human discomfort that torments our cells
And yet
In the disconnection I found no solace
Instead, I felt untethered
Not just from my organs and my bones and my tissues
But from the very fabric of life itself
I stopped being able to feel earth under foot
My breath shallow
Cold and alone with my thoughts alone.
Who would have thought
That in reclaiming the messy terrain within
I would find – not as I had feared –
oblivion
But instead that I would find
liberation.
The likes of which could reconnect all humans
To themselves
to their kin
And to their magic earthly home.

Let’s breathe together, relax deeply, and reconnect with the nature surrounding us.
